We just have to share this story! SusanVirnig was one of the Writer's in Residence for the Get Lit! Festival. While she was working with a third grade class at Ness Elementary School, she gave the students the option of writing about "what is poetry?" or to choose to write another of the many types of poems they had done, or to write about anything they wanted to write about. One of the boys chose the last option and wrote this:
"Susan?!!"
One day
she came
without a warning.
Susan
came to us
came to teach us
about
Poetry!
Oh the things we learned
the things she taught us
the fun we had together.
