Holiday Events for Kids Starting This Weekend!

The snow is coming and Bing Crosby is all over the radio, which means...the holidays have officially arrived. Since many of us are scrambling to come up with ways to make this year's holiday season a memorable one for our loved ones, we thought we'd help out by providing you with a list of some of the kids and youth events and activities we're most excited about...

Theater:

Babes in Toyland
Presented by Theater Arts for Children
        Dates:  December 7-16
        Times:  Fridays 7pm
                     Saturdays 4pm and 7pm
                     Sundays 2pm
        Cost: $10 adults, $8 seniors, students, and military
                 *Advance purchasing through TicketsWest is recommended.

The Nutcracker
Presented by the State Street Ballet and the Spokane Symphony Orchestra
        Location: Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox
        Dates:  December 6-9
        Times: Thursday-Friday 7:30-9:30pm
                    Saturday 2-4pm, 7:30-9:30pm
                    Sunday 2-4pm
        Cost: $16-65 depending on seating. See the above link for more details.

It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play
Presented by Interplayers 
        Dates:  Now through December 30
        Times: Wednesday-Saturday 7:30pm
                    2pm showings on select Saturdays and Sundays
        Cost: $28 adults, $22 seniors and military, $15 students



Hands-on Activities:

Special Readings at Auntie's
Auntie's has tons of fun youth events happening throughout December including a Merry Grinch-mas Storytime and Craft on December 15th and a visit from children's author Kelly Milner Halls on December 22nd. Check their calendar for more information.

Holidays at Green Bluff
Take pictures with Santa, cut your own Christmas tree, and stock up on candy and other holiday treats!   
         November 23-December 24

Holiday Lights at Gaiser Conservatory
Special Event: Friends of Manito Park will host an Open House with free refreshments and cookie decorating for kids!
        Location: Manito Park
        Dates: December 8-9
        Time:  4:30-7:30pm
        *Regular hours December 7-19 will be 8am-7:30pm
  
Santa Express
Children between the ages of 4 and 12 can do their holiday shopping and help others in one trip. Children can purchase gifts ranging in price from 50 cents to $8, and all proceeds go to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery.
        Location: Skywalk level of the Crescent Building
                    707 W. Main Ave.
        Dates: November 23-December 23
        Times: Monday-Saturday 10am-8pm
                    Sunday 11am-6pm


For Kids Who Like to Go, Go, Go:

Holiday Horse and Carriage Rides
        Location: Downtown Spokane, Wall St at Main Ave
        Dates:  Now through December 24
        Times: Fridays 3-8pm
                    Saturdays-Sundays 12-5pm
        Cost:   FREE

Riverfront Park Ice Palace
        Dates:  Now through March 3
        Times: Tuesday-Sunday 11am-5pm
                    Tuesday-Thursday 7-8:30pm
                    Friday-Saturday 7-10pm
        Admission Cost:  $4.50 adults, $3.50 youths, seniors, and military
        Skate Rental Cost: $3.50
