"Bound Like Grass" Montana Book Award Winner!

Congratulations to Ruth McLaughlin for winning the 2011 Montana Book Award for her book Bound Like Grass! This annual award recognizes literary and/or artistic excellence in a book written or illustrated by someone who lives in Montana, is set in Montana, or deals with Montana themes or issues.

Bound Like Grass: A Memoir from the Western High Plains is an honest, beautifully written memoir of McLaughlin's and her family's struggle to survive on their isolated wheat and cattle farm. We are excited to announce that Ruth will be participating in the 2011 Get Lit! festival. She will be involved in a panel titled "Finding Themes in Our Life Story" on Friday, April 15th at North Idaho College from noon - 1:30 pm. She will also be reading from this book on Saturday, April 16th at Auntie's on Main at 10 am.

And speaking of prizes . . .

There is only one week left to enter the Willow Springs fiction contest! Willow Springs is accepting entries online, or postmarked by March 1, 2011 for the Willow Springs Fiction Prize. The winner will receive $2,000 and publication in Willow Springs 68. The entry fee is $15 and includes a one-year subscription to Willow Springs, beginning with the issue containing the winning entry. Submission details can be found at the prize website.
